FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State water polo team fell to No. 7 Pacific in its Golden Coast Conference opener 16-8 at the Aquatics Center, Saturday afternoon. Freshman Daphne Guevremont scored a team-high four goals in the game, tying her career-high.Â
"It was a physical game," head coach Natalie Benson said. "Pacific is a very physical team. We matched up well against them during the first half. They switched to a different style of defense in the second half. It took us awhile to adjust and they were able to score a few goals during that time, that's what made the difference today. Overall, I'm happy with how our players executed the game plan and they came out with confidence. Our play today was a big step up from Tuesday's game and I'm happy with that. I don't think the score reflects how well we played today."Â
The No. 13 Bulldogs fall to 8-12 (0-1 GCC) this season.Â

The Tigers won the sprint to start the game, scoring to take a 1-0 lead. Guevremont found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
