Bulldogs close regular season with San Jose State and Nevada

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State closes the regular season this weekend with a pair of Mountain West dual matches, hosting San Jose State on Friday and Nevada on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 2 p.m. PT and will be played at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs are 8-10 on the year and a coming off of a split last weekend in which the 'Dogs defeated Cal Poly 4-3 before falling 4-1 to Long Beach State.

Holding a 9-1 singles record during the spring, A.C. Hummel leads all Mountain West freshmen in winning percentage in dual matches (.900). In her last 10 matches, Hummel is 7-0 with three unfinished matches, and led in all three before the dual was clinched. Â

Shir Azran also holds the second-best winning percentage of MW freshmen in duals (.833), and is one of four freshmen in the league to have double-digit wins (10-2) after recording victories at five of six positions.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
San Jose State enters the weekend with a 7-7 overall record and are coming off of three straight defeats. The Spartans are 2-3 away from home with a 1-2 record in true road matches.

Freshman Alba Pedrero Galindo leads SJSU with a 16-11 overall mark and is 6-5 in duals while playing in the top four positions. Sophomore Klara Milojkovic is 9-2 during the spring playing at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.

Last week:Â Like the Bulldogs two weeks ago, San Jose State faced San Diego State and UNLV in the same weekend, falling to the Aztecs, 4-1, and the Rebels 4-0.
Series history:Â Fresno State is 19-0 all-time against San Jose State. One of the Bulldogs' most common opponents since joining the Mountain West, the 'Dogs and Spartans have played seven times since 2014.

Nevada heads into the weekend with three matches in three days, the third coming against the Bulldogs on Sunday. The Wolf Pack are 8-8 on the year after dropping their first two conference matches last weekend.

Nevada is led by freshman Selina Turulja who sits at 11-8 overall and is 7-4 in duals, aided by a 5-2 record at No. 5. Along with Turulja, Roos Van reek and Adriana Gergelyova also have seven dual wins.

Last week:Â The Wolf Pack opened last weekend with a 4-0 defeat to UNLV before falling 4-2 to San Diego State two days later.

Series history:Â Fresno State holds the all-time series lead 25-1. The Bulldogs have won the last 10 straight matches against the Pack dating back to 2010.
