Bulldogs sign transfer Maddy Johnson

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State women's basketball head coach Jaime White announced the signing of Xavier transfer Maddy Johnson on Saturday. The sophomore will sit out the 2019-20 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules and have three years of eligibility.

"Maddy comes to us as a transfer with great experience at Xavier and Mater Dei," White said. "She is a versatile player that is impactful on both ends of the floor. We are so excited to welcome her to our Bulldog family."

Johnson, originally from Irvine, California, played in 21 games last season at Xavier. She joined the Musketeers from Southern California's Mater Dei High School where she helped the Monarchs to a Division II state runner-up finish in 2017, a DII regional final appearance in 2016 and a runner-up finish in the open division in 2015. In Johnson's four seasons, Mater Dei accumulated a 105-24 record and went undefeated in the Trinity League, posting a 32-0 record.

Coming out of high school, Johnson, a 5-11 guard, was a three-star prospect with a scouts grade of 90 by ESPN and was rated as No. 14 wing in the country in the class of 2018.
