Bulldogs open season at UCR Invite

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State cross country teams opened the 2019 season on Saturday morning at the UCR Invitational, with both the men's and women's teams placing in the top 20 at the Ag/Ops Course.

Hailey Fernandez paced the Bulldog women in her first meet with a time of 22:42.75 in the 6K. Sophie Jimenez followed Fernandez while finishing just off her personal best time at 23:03.62. As a team the 'Dogs finished 18^th.

Matthew Founds led the men's team in the 8K at 26:56.15. The senior was followed by a pair of newcomers in Sam Hawley (27:01.91) and James Barrett (27:30.83). The Bulldog men placed 20^th overall.

Fresno State will return to action on Sept. 28 at the Sac State Capital Cross Challenge.
