Barton earns MOP in 11-8 loss at No. 9 Baylor

WACO, Texas - The No. 4 Fresno State equestrian team finished its weekend road trip with a 11-8 loss at No. 9 Baylor on Saturday. The 'Dogs had high-scoring rides, but Baylor was able to edge out Fresno State in the second half for the win. Fresno State won in the Reining, 3-2, for its only win on the day. Senior Paige Barton earned the lone Bulldog MOP with a 73-0 ride against Jenna Meimerstorf in the Reining.

Fresno State is now 7-5 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 competition this season.

How it happened
The morning started similar to the start of the 'Dogs win at TCU just 24 hours prior as Baylor earned a 3-2 win in the Fences with Bulldog points from Erica Rosinski and Alivia Hart. The Bulldog duo remained undefeated on the weekend. Rosinski earned her point on a 85-83 ride to tie her season-high. Hart picked up her point with a career-high 86 to her opponent's 80.

Fresno State tied the meet at 5-5 with a 3-2 win in the Reining with points from Barton, Julianne Kelley and Lexee Padrick. Kelley won her point with a 69-68 ride versus Madaline Callaway and Padrick secured the final point in the event with a 69.5-0 ride.

The Bulldogs had high-scoring rides in the Flat, but Baylor came out with the 3-2 win in the event to extend its lead in the meet. The Bulldog points came from Ana Bertozzi and Cecily Hayes. The pair remained undefeated on the weekend.

As the 'Dogs trailed 8-7 heading into the Horsemanship, Baylor proved itself in the event as it took a 3-1 win to take the team win. Hannah Buijs tied in her ride with a 73.5. Fresno State's point was earned by Nicole Campbell in a 75-74 win against Marley Mainwaring. Campbell is now 8-4 in the event this year.
