How It Happened
The 'Dogs jumped on the board quickly on Sunday scoring a run in the bottom of the first on a RBI double by Nogales down the right field line to drive home Nate Thimjon who reached base on a walk.
A six-run third inning for the Bulldogs gave them great command of the game leading 7-0 as the 'Dogs sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame.
Nogales got the scoring started with his second RBI double of the afternoon to drive in both Thimjon and Presno for a 3-0 lead (watch). Coming home to score on a wild pitch, Nogales put the 'Dogs ahead 4-0.
A single by second baseman Andrew Kachel was followed by a double by center fielder EJ Andrews, Jr. and a walk to shortstop Jeff Jamison loaded the bags for Higgins. The sophomore broke open the game with a bases-clearing double down the right field line (watch) to push the 'Dogs in front, 7-0.
Higgins drove in his fourth RBI of the day in the fifth (watch) and Presno led off the sixth with a home run to left field (watch) for a 9-0 lead.
Three more runs came across in the seventh for the 'Dogs for a 12-0 lead heading to the eighth where Columbia was able to score once in the eighth and twice in the ninth to make the final tally 12-3 in favor of the Bulldogs.

Head Coach Mike Batesole
On completing the sweep of Columbia on Sunday....
"It is very difficult to get sweeps and we pitched exceptionally well and had some timely hitting as well."
On the offense getting hot with 51 runs scored over the last five games....
"We have had some good discipline and got productive outs which helps your offense get going."
On Presno hitting his sixth home run of the season on Sunday...
"It is a good start for him and he is catching exceptionally well which is more important for his position. He threw out their leadoff hitter today and he is receiving well and whatever he can chip offensively we will take and so far that has been very good."
