WACO, Texas - The Fresno State equestrian team continues to set records in the 2019-20 season as it was honored with a program-best seven All-America honorees, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Friday. The Bulldogs' selections are highlighted by first team recipients Bailey Alexander (Reining) and Alivia Hart (Fences).
Â
"This just caps off a great season," said head coach Eric Hubbard. "I am very proud of each of these girls as they have put in the work each and every day. Each of them have had a part in leading our team to new heights and set program records. I am honored to be a part of their passion for our team and their love of the sport."
Â
Alexander, who was named the 2019-20 Big 12 Reining Rider of the Year yesterday, earns first team honors in Reining with a 10-2 record and three MOP honors in the event as a freshman. She opened her collegiate career with a six-meet win streak before falling to No. 1 Auburn. Alexander became the fifth Bulldog to earn first team honors in the Reining, joining current teammate Paige Barton (2017-18) and three-time Reining All-American Taylor Brown (2013-14, 2015-16 and 2016-17).
Â
Hart is the only Fences first team All-American selection in Fresno State history, and the first Fences selection since the 2010-11 season when a pair of Bulldogs picked up honorable mention recognitions. The sophomore Bulldog had a stellar spring season to propel her to the first team honor as she finished the season with a 7-2 record. Hart was also honored as a All-Big 12 Fences team member for her efforts in the 2019-20 season.
Â
Senior Paige Barton earned her second career All-American honor as a second team Reining selection this season. Barton finished out her career with an 8-4-1 record and four MOPs in the event this season. Barton leaves the program with 31 wins and seven MOP honors in her Reining career. The senior Bulldog was also selected to the All-Big 12 Reining team this season.
Â
Horsemanship duo Hannah Buijs and Nicole Campbell represented Fresno State in the event's All-American selections. Buijs was a second team honoree with a 7-2-2 mark as a sophomore and Campbell earned honorable mention after finishing her senior season with a 9-4 record. Campbell is a two-time All-American honorable mention honoree in her two-year career with Fresno State. Both Bulldogs were All-Big 12 Horsemanship selections this season.
Â
Sophomore Cecily Hayes picked up All-American honorable mention honors in both the Fences and Flat for her efforts in the 2019-20 season. Hayes earned 10 wins in both events, going 10-5 in the Fences and 10-4-1 in the Flat. The sophomore also earned three MOP honors in each of the events this season. She set single-season best win records in both events this year.
Â
The sophomore Bulldog becomes the first Bulldog to earn All-American honors in both Jumping Seat events, and just the second ever to earn two All-American honors in the same season. Brown was the first to accomplish that honor as she earned Reining and Horsemanship titles in the 2016-17 season. Hayes was also honored as a Fences and Flat All-Big 12 selection.
Â
Fresno State finished the season ranked No. 4 in the country, it's highest-ever team ranking. The Bulldogs' seven selections were the second-most in the NCEA behind No. 1-ranked Auburn who had 12.
