Fresno State visits UCLA for a two-day dual meet on Friday and Saturday.
LOS ANGELES – Fresno State swimmers will compete at UCLA in a swim-only dual meet on Friday and Saturday. Â
The two-day meet with UCLA will serve as the first dual meet of the 2020-21 campaign for Fresno State, who finished second in a home tri-meet with San Diego State and San Jose State in early December.  Fresno State won four races in that opening competition, which featured a pair of victories for sophomore Athena Clayson, who won the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes – the same two events she won during the 2020 MW championships.
Along with Clayson's two first-place finishes in backstroke over a month ago, Fresno State's Darina Khisiamova won the 1650-yard freestyle and Tonya Guryeva sprinted to victory in the 100-yard freestyle against the Aztecs and Spartans.
Events in Westwood are scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. PT on both Friday and Saturday morning.
UCLA is coming off a strong 2019-20 season, posting a 7-3 record in dual meets and finishing fourth at the Pac-12 Championships, the program's highest finish since 2014. The Bruins were set to send five student-athletes to the 2020 NCAA Championships – including returners Hannah Butler and Clair Grover – before the season's abrupt cancellation due to COVID-19.
