DALLAS, Texas - The No. 6 Fresno State equestrian team suffered a tough 17-2 loss at No. 7 SMU on Friday. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back tomorrow at No. 3 Baylor.

SMU opened the meet with a 5-0 sweep in the horsemanship. Kameron Thorn scored the highest ride for the 'Dogs, but was beaten 77.5-76.

Fresno State won its first point of the day in the flat as Cecily Hayes rode to a 84-78 win. Hayes would count for the only Bulldog point in the event as Fresno State trailed 9-1 going into the break.

The Mustangs earned another sweep in the fences in the second half, extending their lead to 14-1 with just the reining left to compete. Bailey Alexander opened the event with a Bulldog point, outscoring her opponent 73-72.5. Addison Welman tied in her ride with a 73, but the Mustangs took the remaining three points to seal the win.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow as they travel to Waco to take on No. 3 Baylor in a Big 12 matchup. Live stats are available here.
