'Dogs earn pair of MOPs at Baylor

Fresno State drops meet 11-7 at No. 3 Baylor

WACO, Texas - The No. 6 Fresno State equestrian team battled tough on the road in its fall season finale at No. 3 Baylor, but came up short 11-7. Fresno State finishes out the fall with a 4-5 record.

The Bulldogs won a pair of MOP honors on Saturday, one in the flat and the other in the horsemanship. Sara Tuck picked up her second flat MOP of the season with a 88-84 win over her Baylor opponent. Emily Maul earned her first MOP honor of the season in the horsemanship, outscoring her opponent 76-69.

How it happened
Baylor opened the meet with a 4-1 win in the fences. The lone Bulldog point was earned in a 77-76 edging by Cecily Hayes.

The reining event was a bit more even-matched, but it was still Baylor who would pull away with the win. Bailey Alexander won the first point of the event with a 73-71.5 ride. Baylor won the following two points, then Lexee Padrick (72.5) and Addison Welman (75) tied in their rides.

Baylor led 6-2-2 at the break.

Fresno State picked up its most wins in an event at the conclusion of the flat, earning three points in the arena. In addition to Tuck's MOP ride, Grace Mathias (85) and Ana Bertozzi (79.5) were point-winners for the 'Dogs.

Baylor took the horsemanship, 3-2. Hannah Buijs picked up the first point of the event with a 76-74.5 ride. Maul's MOP ride in the horsemanship was the final Bulldog point of the day.

Up Next
The Bulldogs will take some time away for their winter recess before returning for the spring portion of the season in February. The Bulldogs will be back in the saddle for competition on Feb. 18 at TCU.
