Spring season opens on the road

No. 8 Fresno State faces No. 5 TCU and No. 1 Oklahoma State on the road this weekend.
FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 8 Fresno State equestrian team is on the road to open up its spring season, first taking on the 5th-ranked TCU in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday before traveling to Stillwater, Okla. to face No. 1 Oklahoma State on Saturday. Both meets this weekend are Big 12 meets. It is the second time this season that the Bulldogs will be faced with a pair of opponents in the Top 5 in back-to-back days.

QUICK LOOK AT THE 'DOGS
- Fresno State opens its 2022 spring season this weekend, taking on two Big 12 opponents on the road.
- Fresno State is 1-2 in its Big 12 meets this season, earning a win against then-No. 6 TCU (Oct. 2) and losses to then-No. 1 Oklahoma State (Nov. 5) and then- No. 3 Baylor (Nov. 20).
- Fresno State is 3-5 this season, not including a jumping seat only win against Lynchburg on Oct. 23.
- The Bulldogs are facing both teams for the second time this season, having already hosted them at the Student Horse Center earlier this fall.
- The Bulldogs ranked No. 8 in this week's NCEA weekly team rankings.
- Fresno State was ranked as high as No. 6 this season. The highest ranking in program history for the Bulldogs is No. 4.
- The Bulldogs had two riders earn Big 12 November Riders of the Month to close out the fall season - Bailey Alexander (reining) and Cecily Hayes (flat). Both riders were the first selected by the conference for honors this season.
- Alexander was also named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Shorty's Reining Rider of the Month for November.
- Head coach Eric Hubbard enters his 10th season at the helm of the Fresno State equestrian program, having served as the program's interim head coach from 2013-15.
- Assistant coaches Mary Brown (western) and Caitlin Marshall (jumping seat) enter their fifth seasons with the 'Dogs.
SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
- TCU is 7-5 this season, and 1-3 in its Big 12 meets.
- TCU was ranked No. 5 in this week's NCEA team rankings announcement, a jump following wins over SMU and Baylor.
- The Horned Frogs defeated both SMU (Feb. 10) and Baylor (Feb. 12) by raw score on the road.
- It's raw score victory over Baylor last week was TCU's first Big 12 victory of the season.
- TCU has earned four-straight victories over ranked teams.
- TCU is 2-2 at home this season.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
- Oklahoma State is 7-1 this season, and 4-0 in its Big 12 meets.
- The Cowgirls were ranked No. 1, again, in this week's NCEA team rankings. OSU has been the top-ranked team in five-straight rankings announcements.
- Oklahoma State is on a three-meet winning streak. Its lone loss of the season came by then-No. 7 SMU (Nov. 6, 2021) in a neutral site meet in Fresno. The Cowgirls fell 10-5.
- This spring, Oklahoma State has wins over then-No. 4 Baylor (Feb. 6), UC Davis (Feb. 11), and then-No. 9 UT-Martin (Feb. 12).
- OSU is undefeated at home this season.Â
