Four finish in Top 25, 'Dogs place fourth at The Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team finished in fourth place at The Gold Rush, hosted by Long Beach State at Old Ranch Country Club, on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs shot a 35-over-par 899 (302-305-292) and were just one stroke behind Cal Poly and UNLV who tied for second in the 11-team field.

Fresno State shot a 4-over-par 292 on Tuesday for its second-lowest single round total of the season. The Bulldogs led the field in par scoring. Fresno State had four golfers finish in the top 25, and two in the top ten.
"It was another solid week. I am really excited for another top five finish and it is certainly an exciting time for Jess [Hall] as she finished tied for seventh in a solid rebound week," said head coach Emily Loftin. "We are excited to have four players finish in the top 25. It is a little disappointing that we fell a bit short finishing a little higher than we wanted to as a team, but we are seeing a lot of growth and looking forward to having a small break before we ramp up again for the next tournament."

The 'Dogs were led by senior Brigitte Thibault who captured her second top 10 finish of the season as she placed sixth with a 3-over 219 (77-72-70). Thibault tied for the third-lowest round on Tuesday and was just one of eight golfers to shoot under par on the day. Junior Jessica Hall had her best finish of the season as she tied for seventh with a 5-over-par 221 (72-78-71). Her first and third round scores from The Gold Rush are her lowest single-round scores of the season.

Junior Harriet Lynch had a productive day on Tuesday, getting back on track with a 2-over-par 74 to crack the top 20 at T20th. Lynch shot a 13-over 229 (77-78-74) in the tournament. She had her best finish and lowest three round total of the season.

Freshmen Lydia Volkmer and Lory Paradis rounded out the tournament for the 'Dogs as Volkmer finished T23rd and Paradis was 32nd. Volkmer shot a 14-over-par 230 (76-77-77) and Paradis was 18-over with a 234 (78-79-77) in their second collegiate tournament.

Senior Kristin Simonsen competed in the event as an individual and finished T30th with a 17-over-par 233 (82-77-74).
