’Dogs rally for gritty 4-3 road win

Fresno State junior Ella Husrefovic finished off the Bulldogs’ comeback in a thrilling three-set singles win.
STOCKTON, Calif. – The Fresno State women's tennis team rallied in singles to earn a thrilling 4-3 road win over the Pacific Tigers on Friday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center in Stockton.
Fresno State (4-1) earned four singles points, including a three-set clincher by junior Ella Husrefovic at No. 5 singles, to secure its third straight victory and first on the road this season.
To open the match, Fresno State's No. 1 doubles team of Dalia Ahmed and Deniza Marcinkevica cruised to a 6-1 win of Pacific's top doubles duo, but the Bulldogs came up just short of winning the doubles point with a pair of close 6-4 losses at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Carlotta Nonnis Marzano quickly evened the match a 1-1 by winning in straight sets (6-2, 6-1) at No. 6 singles and the rally back was on. Ahmed and Cristina Flaquer also won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, to set the stage for Husrefovic sealing the road win. Flaquer remains undefeated at No. 3 singles this season for the Bulldogs.
