’Dogs sweep Sunbirds 7-0 in opener

The Bulldogs rolled past Fresno Pacific by winning the doubles point and then sweeping all singles matches in straight sets to open the 2021 spring season.
FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's tennis team defeated the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
Fresno State (1-0) jumped out to an early lead by quickly winning the doubles point and then powered past the Sunbirds in straight sets at the No. 1 through No. 5 positions. FPU (0-1) competed with five players, so the Bulldogs automatically won by default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Fresno State continues its season-opening week when the Bulldogs host BYU on Friday at 11 a.m. PT and Sacramento State on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT. As a reminder, no fans are permitted to attend due to current state guidelines.
