LAS VEGAS – The sixth-seeded Fresno State men's basketball team defeated the 11th-seeded New Mexico Lobos on Wednesday in the first round of the 2021 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Men's Basketball Championships at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Fresno State (12-11) will next face No. 3 Colorado State on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. PT in the quarterfinals of the single-elimination tournament in Las Vegas.

Fresno State sophomore guard Deon Stroud scored a game-high 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting and also had five rebounds and three steals, including one swipe that led to yet another 360-degree dunk in transition.

Isaiah Hill recorded 17 points, which included three 3-pointers, and five assists, while Anthony Holland added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists (no turnovers) in nearly 39 minutes of action for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine of their last 11 games played against Lobos.

Orlando Robinson also produced his 10th double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Fresno State improved to 9-0 when Anthony Holland scores at least eight points in a game in his first two seasons at Fresno State (6-0 this season).
Fresno State sophomores Orlando Robinson (10th of the season) and Anthony Holland (1st of his career) each had double-doubles for the fourth and fifth double-doubles ever by a Bulldog in a MW Tournament game.
Fresno State shot 58.7 percent from the field (27-for-46) for its best-ever single-game team field goal percentage in a MW Tournament game.
Fresno State sophomore guard Deon Stroud set a new program MW Tournament single-game record for field goal percentage (8-for-12 FG, 66.7 percent) – minimum 12 field goal attempts.
Fresno State sophomore forward Orlando Robinson set a new program MW Tournament single-game record for most free throws made (10) and tied Tyler Johnson for most rebounds (12) in a MW Tournament game.
Fresno State has now won nine of its last 11 games played against New Mexico and leads the all-time series 18-17 (2-1 in MW Tournament games).
