Strong singles play seals road win

Fresno State won four of its six singles contests to earn its third road win of the season.

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Fresno State women's tennis team defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans 4-3 on Friday at Titan Courts in Fullerton.

Fresno State (5-3) rallied back in singles after dropping the doubles point despite a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position by the duo of Dalia Ahmed and Deniza Marcinkevica.

In singles, the Bulldogs won at the No. 1 (Ahmed), No. 3 (Cristina Flaquer), No. 4 (Carolina Piferi) and No. 5 (A.C. Hummel) slots, including the clinching point delivered in a gritty three-set victory by A.C. Hummel over CSF's YuSeung Suh.

Fresno State will return home for a two-match weekend homestand on back-to-back days, which starts on March 20 versus Santa Clara and closes on March 21 with CSUN.

As a reminder, due to current state guidelines, fans are not able to attend home matches during the 2021 season. All in-person activities are subject to approval from state, county and local officials. Matches and times are subject to change.
