WACO, Texas - Fresno State sophomore Bailey Alexander earned her second career National Collegiate Equestrian Association Shorty's Reining Rider of the Month honor for her performance in the event in the month of March. Alexander was 4-1 in March, with two Most Outstanding Performer honors in that span. The sophomore was undefeated (4-0) on the road.
Â
The Redding, Calif. native opened the month with three-straight wins in the Bulldogs' trip to Texas to face a plethora of ranked opponents. Alexander earned her first win and first MOP of the month against then-No. 2 TCU with a 70.5-69.5 ride. In her next ride at then-No. 8 SMU, she rode for a season-high 71.5-71 edging. Alexander wrapped up the weekend with a 70.5-68.5 win against then-No. 6 Oklahoma State for her largest margin of victory on the weekend.
Â
Alexander closed out regular season competition with a 70.5-67 win at UC Davis on Mar. 13. She also earned the MOP against the Aggies.
Â
Alexander was last named the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month in November 2019. She becomes the first Bulldog to earn two career national rider of the month honors in the reining since Taylor Brown earned three in her career (2013-17). She is the second Bulldog to be honored by the organization this season as classmate Ana Bertozzi was the Fences Rider of the Month in February.
Â
The Bulldogs return to action for their first-ever Big 12 Conference Championships this weekend (Mar. 26-27) in Waco, Texas. Fresno State earned the No. 2 seed and will face No.3-seeded TCU on Friday. The Big 12 tournament central is available here.
