Â
QUICK LOOK - Fresno State and Oregon officially added Sunday's game to the schedule on Thursday, April 8. Â The Bulldogs are 1-8 this season. The lone win for Fresno State came on the road in a 20-11 victory at Kent State on Feb. 19.
Â
LAST TIME OUT - The Fresno State lacrosse team last fell to then-No. 16 Stanford, 23-8, on Mar. 31.
Â
UNSTOPPABLE ROOKIE - Freshman attacker Logann Eldredge earned her third-straight, and fifth of her career, MPSF Rookie of the Week honor on Monday. The freshman attacker is the team's current leader in points this season. She has 26 points (18 goals, 8 assists) on the year. Eldredge has won five of the eight possible MPSF Rookie of the Week honors this season. Eldredge's honor this week ties for the program record for most MPSF Rookie of the Week honors in a single season.Eldredge is the first Bulldog to earn three-straight MPSF weekly honors, of any kind, in program history.
Â
GROUND BALL MAGNETS - Fresno State remains the conference leader in ground balls per game (19.22). Individually, senior Abbigayle Roberts and freshman Devon Ortman are No. 2 and No. 3 in the conference standings, respectively. Roberts leads the team with 26 ground balls, and Ortman has 22. Hennessey Evans is right behind with 21.
Â
ROBERTS IN THE RECORD BOOK - Ground balls are nothing new for the senior Roberts. She is sitting at 74 career ground balls, enough to place seventh in Fresno State history. She is just seven ground balls away from breaking the program's single season record (32). The record is held by former goalkeeper Laurel Maunder who scooped 32 in 2019.
Â
HENNESSEY THE MIDDY - Sophomore Hennessey Evans has done it all for the Bulldogs this season, sporting a stat line of 20 goals, three assists, 23 points, 44 shots, 37 shots on goal, 21 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 12 draw controls. Evans leads the team in goals and caused turnovers on the year.
Â
GIMME ALL THE ASSISTS - Senior attacker Lauren Kiszely leads the team and the conference with 14 assists this season. Her 14 assists already breaks into the program's all-time single season high numbers, as she ties her own mark from 2018. The senior's career-high for a single season came in just eight games throughout the shortened 2020 season. Kiszely racked up 17 assists that season with a program record six in one game. Kiszely also has the top two single-game highs in the conference this season. With her four assists against Cal, Kiszely ties for second all-time in career assists at Fresno State. The senior ties with Sarah Bloise (2016-18) in the program standings. Tiffiny Wallace (2017-20) is the program's all-time leader with 66 assists.
Â
COURTNEY IN THE CAGE - Senior goalkeeper Courtney Walburger had some big shoes to fill as she stepped up into the starting goalkeeper position in 2021, but she has not disappointed. Last time out, Walburger recorded two career-high numbers with 15 saves and six ground balls against then-No. 16 Stanford. The senior keeper has 103 saves on the season. She is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA in saves, and No. 5 in the country in saves per game. Walburger is averaging 11.44 a game. She also leads the MPSF in both categories.
Â
ENDURANCE FOR DAYS - Fresno State is sporting a minimal roster this season due to a number of reasons. The Bulldog lacrosse team is made up of just 18 student-athletes. Outside of the starting 12, there are not many available for substitutions in a game, but that has not stopped the 'Dogs from competing for a full 60 minutes.
Â
SCOUTING OREGON - Oregon is 2-8 this season. With having already played five of the same opponents as Fresno State, Oregon has been outscored 141-92 this season. The Ducks have also been outshot, 338-221. Hanna Hilcoff (28), Lillian Stump (20) and Morgan McCarthy (11) have combined to score 59 of Oregon's 92 total goals. Defensively, Oregon senior goalkeeper Alle Dunbar is No. 3 in the Pac-12 and No. 11 in the NCAA with 99 total saves through ten games.
Oregon defeated Cal 9-8 in Berkeley on Friday night.Â
