Bulldogs finish series sweep with 6-0 shutout

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fresno State softball team completed the series sweep over Colorado State, defeating the Rams 6-0 in game three on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs (25-7, 11-1 MW) have won their fourth consecutive series of conference play, and are tied for first place.
Fresno State chalked seven hits in the contest, including three home runs. Schuylar Broussard, Adrianna Noriega and Keahilele Mattson all tallied a home run, totaling five RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Senior right-handed pitcher Hailey Dolcini pitched a complete game shutout, recording nine saves. Dolcini has logged 11 shutouts this season.
How It Happened – The game was scoreless for the first three innings. Fresno State struck first in the fourth inning, plating two runs off a sacrifice fly and an RBI groundout.
The Bulldogs tacked on another run in the sixth inning after Noriega sent her fourth bomb of the season over the left field fence for a 3-0 lead.
Fresno State doubled its lead in the final frame. Broussard got the offense going with a home run to left center. Hayleigh Galvan drew a two-out walk, and Mattson smashed a two-run home run to left field. Mattson leads the team this season with seven home runs.
Fresno State retired the bottom of the frame to secure the shutout, marking the Bulldogs' 12th shutout of the season and eighth straight win.
Up next – Fresno State will have a five-game homestand, starting with a doubleheader against Saint Mary's on April 17.
