'Dogs beat UNM, tie for most MW wins

Fresno State tied for the most Mountain West victories by any team in the conference this season after defeating New Mexico 4-1 on Saturday in Reno.
RENO, Nev. – The Fresno State women's tennis team defeated the New Mexico Lobos 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Tennis Center in Reno.
With the victory, Fresno State (15-5, 8-2 Mountain West) tied for the most victories and finished second in league play.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs won at their top two positions to secure the doubles point and then took a 2-0 lead after Dalia Ahmed quickly dispatched UNM's Yue Lin Chen in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Ahmed finished the season with a perfect 7-0 conference singles record – all at the No. 1 position.
Carolina Piferi then won at No. 5 singles to finish the season by winning six straight decisions, and Deniza Marcinkevica later clinched the match by rallying to win in three sets while playing up at the No. 2 singles position this weekend for the first time in conference play.
