FRESNO, Calif. – For the second straight week, Fresno State's hammer throwers delivered to open a home meet, this time at the West Coast Relays. In the only event of the day, Bulldog throwers finished 1-2-4. Redshirting and competing unattached, Nadia Maffo won the event for the second consecutive week while Hannah Chappell narrowly finished behind the transfer.
Maffo's top mark of 60.99m/200-1 bested Chappell by just one inch. For Chappell, it was the first time the Oakdale, Calif. native has broken the 60-meter mark in her collegiate career (60.97m/200-0). It moved the senior up one spot to No. 4 in program history. Both Bulldogs landed their top throws of the meet on their fifth attempt.
Amelia DiPoala continued her quick progression to her career recording a new personal best for the second straight week. The sophomore landed a mark of 59.20m/194-3 to move up to No. 6 on the all-time list at Fresno State.
