Fresno State’s Orlando Robinson has been selected as a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Fresno State sophomore forward Orlando Robinson was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District® 8 first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday morning.
Robinson, a communication major with a 3.63 cumulative grade point average, is the third Bulldog men's basketball student-athlete (sixth all-time selection) to earn CoSIDA's Academic All-District® designation – joining Nedeljko Golubovic (2009, 2010 & 2011) and Sam Bittner (2018 & 2019).
Robinson was also honored as a second-team All-Mountain West and NABC All-District 17 selection this past season.
In his first two seasons at Fresno State, Robinson started all 54 of the team's games – averaging 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as a sophomore during the 2020-21 season.
He scored a career-high 33 points in the Bulldogs' 81-61 win over Wyoming on Jan. 4 and had a career-best 16 rebounds in a 64-62 overtime win versus New Mexico on Jan. 28.
During his Bulldog career, Robinson has recorded 16 double-doubles, including 11 as a sophomore and five as a freshman.
Robinson has entered his name into consideration for the 2021 NBA Draft, while retaining his eligibility to return for his junior season.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
As a first-team honoree, Robinson is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, which will be announced in late May.
