Hailey Dolcini earns Softball America All-American accolades

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State right-handed pitcher Hailey Dolcini was named a Softball America Third Team All-America selection, announced by the organization on Thursday.Â
Dolcini is the first Bulldog to earn Softball America All-America honors. This marks the first All-American the program has seen since Michelle Moses was named to the Easton All-America Third Team roster in 2011.Â
She earns her first All-America nod after being the Bulldogs' ace throughout the season. The Ferndale, Calif. native finished the season with an overall record of 22-5. She was named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player Top 25 Finalist List and a NFCA First Team All-Region selection. Dolcini finished the season with a 1.12 ERA and 259 strikeouts. She led the Mountain West in ERA, opposing batting average, batters struck out, batters struck out looking and wins. She was named the 2021 MW Pitcher of the Year.
 The senior was in a league of her own, earning seven MW Pitcher of the Week awards this season. In conference play, she owned a 13-1 record and a 0.89 ERA.
Dolcini was crowned the shutout Queen this season -- leading the nation through the regular season with 14 shutouts, including two perfect games to record the 16th and 17th perfect games in program history. The senior also chalked 13 games with 10 or more strikeouts and tied the program record for most strikeouts in a 7 Inning game with 18 in Fresno State's 6-0 victory over New Mexico on April 2. Dolcini was selected as an All-MW honoree for the third time in her career.Â
In the postseason, Dolcini opened the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 complete game shutout against No. 23 Minnesota. She tossed 13 strikeouts and only allowed two hits. In the second game against No. 2 UCLA, she worked through 7.2 innings, not allowing a run from UCLA through seven innings. The senior logged five strikeouts and only allowed three walks against the defending national champions.Â
