FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State water polo team had 21 student-athletes earn ACWPC Academic All-America honors.
To be selected to the prestigious list, student-athletes must be on the team and a full-time student at their institution. Freshmen-through-graduate students are eligible for the award. Nominees must achieve a 3.2 cumulative Grade Point Average or higher based on the most recent semester grades.
Fresno State finished the season with an overall record of 13-6 (6-1 GCC). The Bulldogs took a piece of the GCC regular season championship after recording a program-best six wins in conference play, finishing in a three-way tie for first place with San Diego State and Pacific. This marked the first GCC regular season title in program history. Concluding regular season play, the Bulldogs tabbed two first team, one second team and two freshman team All-GCC selections. The five selections are the most honorees that Fresno State has earned in a single season in program history. The 'Dogs won their first GCC Tournament Championship with a 14-10 victory over second-seeded and 13th-ranked San Diego State, punching the Bulldogs' ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in their history.
Fresno State opened the NCAA Tournament with a 15-7 win over Cal Lutheran in the first round, marking the first tournament win in program history. The Bulldogs' season ended with a 16-9 loss to Stanford, the No. 2 overall seed.
