EUGENE, Ore. – Fresno State opened the season with a tough showing on the road, dropping a 5-0 result to a clinical Oregon squad at Papé Field on Thursday night. The Ducks came out flying early and rarely allowed the Bulldogs much space to work with.
Fresno State could only muster two shots on goal during a physical contest that saw 26 fouls assessed (15-11).
How It Happened
Oregon got on the board in the 15th minute as a suspected cross from Mia Palmer found the top left corner. Eight minutes later, Duck striker Ally Cook scored her first of two goals during a 10-minute span (23rd and 32nd). The Bulldogs were unable to record their first shot of the evening until the 43rd minute.
Fresno State attempted to get something going early in the second but again it was Oregon that found the back of the net first, as Eden Hardy split a pair of defenders in the 54th minute and found the low, left corner. The Ducks added one more in the final 10 minutes.
