May-Johnson adds nine newcomers

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State softball head coach Stacy May-Johnson revamps the roster with nine additions for the 2022 season. The nine newcomers feature six transfers and three freshmen.
"We have a fantastic group of newcomers this year," May-Johnson said. "Each player bring different strengths, making them a tremendously well-rounded group who will strengthen the team in a lot of areas. Most importantly, they all have desire and toughness to be winners. I couldn't be more pleased with each and every addition."

Alana Cobb-Adams | Fifth Year | Outfielder | Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
- Cobb-Adams transfers to Fresno State after four years at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
- She played in 147 games for the Cougars, chalking 145 starts.
- She posted 142 hits, scored 104 runs, logged 54 RBIs and stole 50 bases.
- Cobb-Adams was a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference second-team selection and earned OVC All-Newcomer team honors in 2018.
- She served as the team's leadoff hitter for three seasons.
- Doughty led the WAC and ranked 38th in the nation with a .456 batting average in 2020.
- She was amed WAC Hitter of the Week on March 9 after batting .600 with three home runs, including two in a game against Omaha, in tournament at Northern Colorado.
- Doughty finished with 26 hits including four home runs, three doubles, two triples, 13 RBIs and slugged .789
- In 2019, she batted .318 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs as a freshman and was named to All-WAC first team.
- She suffered a season-ending injury in 2021.
- Hvitved appeared in 45Â games and had five starts in three seasons with the Rebels.
- She logged nine hits,14 runs and 12 RBIs.
- Prior to Ole Miss, she played one season at Shoreline Community College in Shoreline, Washington
- Hvitved was named second team all-region as an infielder and was tabbed the 2018 Shoreline CC MVP
- She batted .414 with 18 doubles, two triples and nine home runs scoring 42 runs and driving in 31 runs.
- Irigoyen was a three-year varsity player at Kingsburg HS.
- She owned a .403 batting average her senior season.
- During her sophomore season, she helped lead the Vikings to a Valley Championship in 2019
- Irigoyen is a three-time CSL League Champion.Â
- She was named the Offensive Player of the Year (2019, 2021) and is a two-time CSL All-League selection.
- Nielson batted .297 while appearing in 51 of 52 games and making 35 starts.
- She finished with one home run, three doubles, 15 RBIs and 23 runs scored and was named honorable mention All-WAC. Â
- Nielson was named to Academic All-WAC Team for second straight season.
- She was named to WAC All-Tournament Team after going 5-for-10 with a pair of runs scored.
- In 2020, she appeared in 18 of 19 games, starting 17 times in 2020 -- all at shortstop.
- She batted .289 with 11 runs scored and a pair of RBIs and three stolen bases.
- Prior to her time at UVU, she spent two seasons at Utah State.Â
- Orr played in 24 games for the Cyclones.
- She logged five hits, seven RBIs, and nine runs.
- Orr was a three-year varsity player at Clovis North HS.
- She was a three-time All-TRAC selection.
- In 2019, she owned a .426 batting average and a 13-1 pitching record.
- Painter was a four-year varsity shortstop at Antioch HS.
- She batted a .544 her senior season with 31 hits and seven home runs.
- Painter was a three-time All-BVAL First Team selection, Silver Slugger recipient and Bay Area All-Metro Team honoree.
- Williams played in 12 games for the Longhorns.
- During her freshman season, she recorded one hit, scored two runs and logged three putouts.Â
- Williams was a four-year varsity player at Murrieta Valley HS.
- As a senior, she hit .541 (20-for-37) with 16 runs scored in just 11 games.
- Wright was a four-year varsity catcher at Clovis West HS.
- She batted a .413 her senior season with 33 hits, seven home runs and logged 25 RBIs.
- Wright was named an All-TRAC and All-State selection.
- She helped lead the Golden Eagles to a Valley Championship in 2019.
