Haley Cavinder named MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Coming off of her second triple-double of the season, Fresno State's Haley Cavinder was named Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. Cavinder averaged 20.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 9.0 assists on the week, helping the Bulldogs to a pair of double-digit wins.
In Thursday's game at San Jose State, Cavinder scored or assisted on all 10 points (4 points, 2 assists) during a 10-2 run during the second quarter. The run gave the Bulldogs the lead. They never trailed the remainder of the game.
On Saturday, the 'Dogs led by four going into the fourth quarter in Game 2 against the Spartans. Cavinder scored or assisted on all nine points during a 9-0 run in the first 1:04 of the quarter (2 assists, 4 FTs) that helped put the game out of reach. She cored or assisted on 20 of the Bulldogs' 32 fourth quarter points (8 points, 5 assists).
In Saturday's contest, Cavinder became fifth player in Mountain West history to record more than one triple-double in a career, posting 17 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. She is the third MW player to record more than one in a single season.
The 13 assists set the Fresno State single-game program record. It tied for the most assists in a triple-double in Mountain West history and ranks fourth all-time in league history in a game.
With 13 assists and zero turnovers, Cavinder tied Chelsea Hopkins for the best single-game assist-turnover ratio in Mountain West history (13-0). The 13-0 ratio is tied for the 11th-best assist-turnover ratio in Division I in the last decade. Sabrina Ionescu (13-0) is the only other player in the last decade to have zero turnovers with at least 13 assists in a triple-double.
