WACO, Texas - Fresno State sophomore reiner Shelby Robinette has been named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Reining Rider of the Month for rides through Oct. 1.
Â
In her first collegiate ride, Robinette rode for a program record 79 to her Texas A&M opponent's 75.5 while earning Most Outstanding Performer honors in the meet. The native of Sterling, Colo. broke the Fresno State equestrian program's reining record that was previously 76.5.
Â
Not only did Robinette set the program record last Saturday, but she had the highest reining score by any rider in the event in the NCEA since 2012. Her 79 tied the third-highest score in NCEA history.
Â
Robinette is the first Bulldog to be honored as rider of the month by the NCEA since Bailey Alexander (reining) in Nov. 2021. Wednesday's announcement is the 16th NCEA Rider of the Month in program history, and the eighth in the reining.
Â
The riders of the month from around the NCEA are Robinette - Reining (Fresno State), Mallory Vroegh - Horsemanship (SMU), Maya Clarkson - Flat (South Carolina) and Ellie Yeager - Fences (SMU).
The Bulldogs return to action on Oct. 15 at home, hosting No. 6 Auburn at the Student Horse Center. Riding is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. PT.Â
