FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State softball head coach Stacy May-Johnson announced the addition of two mid-year transfers, right-handed pitcher Casey Dixon and left-handed pitcher Marley Hanlon, for the upcoming 2022 season.
"We are very excited to add Casey and Marley to our pitching staff," May-Johnson said. "Both will fit in very well with our team and bullpen. We wanted to add age and NCAA tournament experience to our roster and these two bring these things exactly. Casey and Marley bring the depth to our pitching staff we need to win another Mountain West Championship, make another run in the NCAA tournament and help us get back to the World Series. Â
Dixon joins the Bulldogs from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a fifth-year graduate transfer, utilizing the additional year of eligibility approved by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dixon helped lead the Ragin' Cajuns to an overall record of 158-40, three NCAA Tournament appearances and two Sun Belt Conference Championships.
The Willis, Texas native made 55 appearances for the Ragin Cajun, primarily as a relief pitcher.
Hanlon joins the 'Dogs from the University of Illinois Chicago as a fifth-year graduate transfer, utilizing the additional year of eligibility approved by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hanlon was a two-time Horizon League All-Conference selection, three-time Horizon League All-Tournament team honoree and the 2021 Horizon League Tournament MVP.
The Cedar Lake, Ind. native appeared in 76 games and made 38 starts during her career with the flames. She helped lead UIC to two Horizon League Championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Â
The Bulldogs will open the 2022 season at the Black and Gold Tournament hosted by UCF Feb. 11-13.
