'Dogs post 19-6 win in GCC opener

FRESNO, Calif. – No. 8 Fresno State opened Golden Coast Conference with a dominant 19-6 win over Santa Clara.
The Bulldogs (10-7, 1-0 GCC) had 10 different goal scorers in the contest. Seniors Emily Nicholson and Shelby Vidmar both recorded hat tricks. Goalkeepers Nieto Jasny and Abigayle Armstrong split time in the cage for Fresno State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The squads exchanged goals to open the game. The 'Dogs went on a 3-0 run to retake the lead 4-1 with 4:17 left in the first quarter. Fresno State kept firing down the stretch, making it an 8-3 game after the first eight minutes.
The Bulldogs' offense was on fire in the second quarter outscoring the Broncos 7-1. Fresno State took a 15-4 advantage into halftime.
The teams exchanged goals to start the third quarter. Fresno State stayed in control through the final 16 minutes of regulation, defeating Santa Clara 19-6.

Fresno State will travel to face Concordia on Saturday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m.
