Jessica Hall earns the individual champion title, leading Fresno State to a third place finish.
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior golfer Jessica Hall was named the individual champion of the 17th annual Fresno State Classic on Tuesday, leading the field of 87 with a 6-under-par 210 (70-70-70). Hall becomes just the third Bulldog to ever medal at Fresno State's home-hosted tournament - joining Taylor Siebert (2008) and Madchen Ly (2014).
Hall's first career tournament win comes hand-in-hand with the second-lowest tournament score of her career. Hall entered the third round sitting in first place, but a late push by Hawai'i's Momo Sugiyama put the pressure on for the final 18 holes. Hall maintained her leader spot with a strong showing in the back nine, remaining calm and securing an even par shot on hole 18 for the win.
As a team, Fresno State finished in third place. The Bulldogs shot 19-over-par with a 883 (293-294-296), a significant jump from their last tournament.
Freshman Yu Shang finished second for the 'Dogs, placing T18th with a 6-over-par 222 (76-72-74).
Jinyoung Yun was tied for 30th with a 8-over-par 224 (72-78-74). Harriet Lynch and Morgan Polley finished tied for 48th with a 229. Lynch finished with scores of 76-74-79. Polley, competing as an individual, shot scores of 80-74-75. Lory Paradis shot 17-over (233) with scores of 75-80-78, finishing T60th.
Fresno State's second individual Delana Basanisi finished T74th with a 238 (80-75-83).
The Bulldogs return to action for their first tournament outside of the state of California since the first spring tournament with the Chambers Bay Invitational on April 11-12. The Chambers Bay Invitational will be the final regular season tournament of the spring before Fresno State preps for the Mountain West Championship on April 18-20.
