'Dogs stumble against TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 3-seeded Fresno State equestrian team dropped its meet 13-7 with the No. 2-seeded TCU on Friday afternoon at Diamond Creek Ranch. Fresno State moves to the consolation bracket of the Big 12 Championship, and will face the No. 4 seed Baylor on Saturday.
In the fences, Fresno State earned points from Ana Bertozzi and Cecily Hayes. Bertozzi won her point on a 133-129 ride. Hayes picked up the next point with a 147-108 performance.Â
In the reining, the Bulldogs won another two points. Bailey Alexander and Julianne Kelley won their points. Alexander won her 10th point of the season with a 140.5-130.5 victory. Kelley won the next point with a 138-0 win.
At the break, Fresno State trailed 6-4.
The Bulldogs had another pair of points won in the horsemanship, falling in the event 3-2. The Bulldogs who won their points were Kameron Thorn and Alex Krebs. Krebs earned the first point with a 148.5-129.5 ride while Thorn posted a 146-143 ride for her win.
With just the flat remaining, Fresno State trailed 9-6. TCU won the flat 4-1 to win the meet. The lone Bulldog point was earned by Sara Tuck with a 161.5-142.5 ride.Â
The Bulldogs are back in the saddle tomorrow morning, taking on Baylor for a battle of third place. Fresno State and Baylor split their regular season meets earlier this season. All information on the Big 12 Championship can be found at the Championship Central page.Â
