FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State equestrian team is set for the 2022 NCEA National Equestrian Championship, this season hosted at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla.

THURSDAY - No. 8 seed Fresno State vs No. 1 seed Oklahoma State. Riding begins at 5:30 a.m. PT on Thursday. Full bracket here (PDF).

THE BRACKET - The NCEA announced its seedings for the 2022 National Championship on Mar. 29. The nation's top 8 squads qualified for the national championship this season. The Bulldogs have qualified for the national championship in back-to-back seasons. Last season was the first time the Bulldogs made it to the national championship event as a team since 2017.

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP: The top eight-ranked Dual Discipline teams are invited to compete in the NCEA National Championship Dual Discipline Championship. The championship is designed as a bracketed single elimination tournament. Each team will compete head-to-head with five riders in each of the Events: Fences and Flat for the Jumping Seat events and Reining and Horsemanship for the Western events. The team that scores the most points (20 possible points available for each matchup) will advance to the next round. Day 1 includes quarterfinals play; Day 2 includes semi-final play; Day 3 concludes with the championship round.

Oklahoma State won the Big 12 Championship, entering as the No. 1 seed. The Cowgirls are back-to-back Big 12 champions, and enter the national championship weekend with a 12-2 record. Oklahoma State made it to the semifinals of the 2021 National Championship a season ago.

WESTERN 'DOGS
- The Western 'Dogs have compiled a 63-73-14 overall record this season.
- In the horsemanship, Fresno State is 31-40-4.
- In the reining, Fresno State is 32-33-10
- The Bulldogs had two reiners earn all-american honors this season - Bailey Alexander (second team) and Lexee Padrick (honorable mention).
- Alexander leads the team with a 11-3-1 record in the reining.
- Padrick has a 6-4-4 mark with two MOP honors.
- Alexander was also named to the All-Big 12 Reining team this season.
- The Bulldogs won the Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month honor in back-to-back months this spring as Alex Krebs was the February honoree and Emily Maul earned the recognition for March.
- Alexander was the Big 12 Reining Rider of the Month for November.
- Fresno State has won 13 western MOP honors - seven in the horsemanship and six in reining.
JUMPING SEAT 'DOGS
- The Bulldog jumping seat squad is 57-97-4 this season.
- The fences group is 25-52-2 on the year.
- The flat group is 32-45-2 on the season.
- Fresno State had an all-american selection in Cecily Hayes, who was honored in the flat.
- Hayes was also an All-Big 12 selection in the flat.
- Hayes has recorded a 9-6-1 record in the flat this season, while picking up a team-high four MOP honors in the event.
- Sara Tuck ties Hayes with the most wins in the event, recording a 9-7 record with two MOP honors on the year.
- In the fences, the Bulldogs are led by Hayes with an 8-8 record.
- Olivia Ferro leads the team in the fences with two MOPs.
- The Bulldogs have won 11 jumping seat MOPs - four in the fences and seven in the flat.
