Undefeated MW champs rise to 10-0!

No. 67 Fresno State completed a historic run through the Mountain West by defeating Utah State 4-1 to earn a program-record 10 MW victories.
BOISE, Idaho – The No. 67-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team defeated the Utah State Aggies 4-1 on Saturday morning at the Appleton Tennis Center in Boise, Idaho.
Fresno State (20-3, 10-0 Mountain West) completed a historic chapter in the program's storied history with an undefeated record in conference play while earning a program-record 10 MW regular season victories and the No. 1 seed for the 2022 MW Championships, which begin on Wednesday in Tucson.
The top-seeded Bulldogs will open play with a Thursday morning quarterfinal against either the No. 8 or No. 9 seed in the single-elimination tournament to be held at El Conquistador Tucson.
How it happened: Fresno State once again rallied for four singles points to win.
In doubles, Pang Jittakoat and Matilde Magrini won at No. 1 doubles for the second time in as many days, but it was the singles play from No. 3 through No. 6 that secured the neutral site victory in Boise.
Carolina Piferi played up at No. 5 sinlges and extended her winning streak to 14 straight in singles for the point that even the match at 1-1.
Cristina Flaquer and Jane Ellis added the next two points and A.C. Hummel clinched at No. 4 singles.

- With a 20-3 overall record in 2022, this was Fresno State's 11th 20-win in program history and first since 2009.
- Denise Dy is the third head coach in program history to win 20 matches in one of her first two seasons as head coach.
- No. 67Â Fresno State has now won its last 12Â matches and 13Â of its last 14Â overall.
- Fresno State improved to 3-0 in neutral site contests during the 2022 regular season.
- In singles, Fresno State's rotation improved to a combined 82-26 (.759) overall with double digit wins and at least four more wins than losses at each slot.  Fresno State was also 35-8 (.814) in singles during MW play.
- Fresno State finished the 2022 regular season with a perfect 18-0 record at No. 6 singles. The Bulldogs also won 15 times at No. 1 (15-4) and No. 4 (15-3) singles.
- Fresno State improved to 35-8 overall (18-2 in MW matches) in head coach Denise Dy's two seasons coaching the Bulldogs.
- This is Fresno State's third Mountain West championship in women's tennis and first since 2018. The first two (2014 & 2018) were tournament championships won when the Bulldogs were coached by Ryan Stotland, who is now the head coach at Arizona, where Denise Dy worked as Stotland's assistant coach from 2018-20 before being hired as Fresno State's head coach.
- For the ninth consecutive week, the Fresno State women's tennis team is ranked nationally (No. 67) in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point, the organization announced on Wednesday. This season, Fresno State has been ranked as high as No. 51 nationally.
- Fresno State's Pang Jittakoat remained 17-3 in singles matches this season (15-3 at No. 1 singles) and ended the regular season on an 11-match singles winning streak (all 11 in straight sets at the top position). Jittakoat was 7-0 in MW play at No. 1 singles.
- Fresno State's Cristina Flaquer improved to 15-5 in singles matches this season (10-4 at No. 3 singles).
- Fresno State's Carolina Piferi is now on a 14-match singles winning streak with a 16-1 record this season (8-0 in MW play).
- Fresno State's A.C. Hummel improved to 9-4 in singles matches this season (8-2 at No. 4 singles).
- Fresno State's Jane Ellis earned a win at No. 6 singles to improve to 2-0 in singles this season (1-0 in MW play).
- Fresno State's Matilde Magrini remained 10-7 at No. 2 singles this season.
- All eight Bulldogs have won at least their last two singles matches.
- Jittakoat and Magrini improved to 10-3 overall in doubles matches this season (all at No. 1 doubles) with a 7-3 record in MW play.
- As a team, Fresno State was 16-6 at No. 1 doubles during the 2022 regular season.
