Bulldogs complete sweep of Rams

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team defeated the Colorado State Rams 6-3 on Sunday at Margie Wright Diamond.
The victory by Fresno State (16-30, 8-10 Mountain West) clinched a series sweep of Colorado State (14-23, 5-10 MW) with a Sunday series finale in which the Bulldogs never trailed.
Fresno State is now 10-5 in the month of April and has won 10 of its last 14 games.
How it happened: The Bulldogs took an early lead when Vanessa M. Hernandez connected on a two-run single to right field in the second.
While CSU evened the game at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, Fresno State answered courtesy of Keahilele Mattson's two-out, two-run double on an 0-2 pitch in the bottom half of the fourth frame.
Alesia Denby crushed a two-run home run in the sixth inning, which gave the Bulldogs a 6-2 lead.
The Rams added a run in the seventh as Cassidy West closed out the sweep.
In the circle, West earned her eighth victory of the season in four innings of work – striking out five with just one walk in 22 batters. West had recorded saves in each of the first two games of the series.
