No. 71 ’Dogs beat No. 66 SDSU, 4-2

After the first two weeks of MW play, Fresno State is undefeated in conference play and alone in first place.
FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 71-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team defeated San Diego State Aztecs 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno.
Fresno State (14-3, 4-0 Mountain West) is now alone in first place in the Mountain West standings after the first two weekends of conference play.
How it happened: The Bulldogs earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, and then built a 2-0 lead after Pang Jittakoat won her eight straight match at No. 1 singles (all in straight sets).
Carolina Piferi added the next point in singles for the 'Dogs to remain undefeated at No. 6 singles this season.
Fresno State's A.C. Hummel then delivered the clincher by rallying to win in three sets at No. 4 singles in her final home match on Senior Day.

- For the sixth consecutive week, the Fresno State women's tennis team is ranked nationally (No. 71) in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point, the organization announced on Wednesday.
- Fresno State's Pang Jittakoat improved to 14-3 in singles matches this season (12-3 at No. 1 singles) and owns an eight-match singles winning streak (all eight in straight sets at the top position).
- Fresno State's Carolina Piferi is now on a 10-match singles winning streak with a 12-1 record in singles (9-0 at No. 6 singles).
