No. 60 Fresno State earned a 4-0 road sweep at San Jose State on Friday to remain undefeated in MW play.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The No. 60-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team swept the defending Mountain West champion San Jose State Spartans 4-0 on Friday afternoon at the Spartan Tennis Complex.
With the road win, Fresno State (15-3, 5-0 Mountain West) remains undefeated in MW contests and in sole possession of first place in the league standings at the midway mark of conference play.
How it happened: Fresno State earned the doubles point for the fourth straight time in its five MW matches – this time winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the advantage into singles.
The Bulldogs then delivered another impressive showing in the singles competition and completed the sweep of SJSU by virtue of victories at the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 slots by Cristina Flaquer, Carlotta Nonnis Marzano and Carolina Piferi, respectively.
Just 370 days removed from a marathon battle between the two same relentless competitors, Flaquer recorded the clinching point for the Bulldogs in her rematch with SJSU's Rozalina Youseva.
