'Dogs picked to win the West

Fresno State was selected as the preseason West Division favorite
LAS VEGAS - The Fresno State football team was picked to win the West Division by the media, the Mountain West announced on Wednesday morning prior to the beginning of the 2022 Mountain West Football Media Days at the Mandalay Bay of Las Vegas.
Fresno State turned the 2021 predictions around as it was picked to finish fourth in its division a season ago, but ultimately finished with a 10-3 record (6-2 MW) and a PUBG Mobile New Mexico Bowl victory.
The Bulldogs, back under the direction of head coach Jeff Tedford, have been picked to win the West Division for the third time in the last five seasons (2018, 2019, & 2022). Since 2013, Fresno State has been the West Division favorite five times (2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, & 2022).
Fresno State returns a majority of its power on both sides of the ball, bringing back 2021 first team all-conference selection defensive back Evan Williams and second team quarterback Jake Haener. Fresno State also returns productivity in the wide receiver duo of Jalen Cropper and Josh Kelly, and running back Jordan Mims. Defensively, Fresno State returns defensive end David Perales, linebacker Levelle Bailey and young talent in cornerback Cale Sanders Jr.
Additionally, Tedford brought in a plethora of Division I talent in transfers Nikko Remigio (Cal - WR), Simi Bakare (Missouri - RB), Cam Lockridge (Hawai'i - DB), Raymond Scott (USC -Â LB), and Joshua Pakola (Stanford -Â DL) - to name a few.Â
