'Dogs Summer Baseball Update No. 2

FRESNO, Calif. - Summer league play continues as July wraps up with nine Bulldogs in action in leagues around the country.
Payton Allen, Infielder, Portland Pickles
Allen has played in 33 of the Pickles' 37 games this summer hitting .245 from the plate tying for fourth on the team with 27 hits.
The soon-to-be senior from Visalia has driven in 14 RBI, scored 18 runs, added four doubles and a home run while drawing 14 walks and added four sacrifice flies & four stolen bases.
Allen has notched a hit in 20 games this summer with seven multi-hit games and had a pair of doubles, RBI and a run in a 10-1 win over the Springfield Drifters on July 12.
Portland went 15-9 in the first half of the season finishing third in the South Division in the West Coast League. The Pickles are 11-2 in the second half and have 15Â regular season games remaining with the WCL Playoffs starting on Aug. 9.
Bobby Blandford, Outfielder, Duluth Huskies
Blandford has played in 27 games for the Huskies this summer in the Northwest League hitting .247 from the dish.
He has collected 23 hits, including six doubles, two triples, drove in 11 RBI, scored 12 runs and drew 15 walks.Â
Duluth won the first half of the Great Plains East Division in the Northwoods League with a 19-14 overall record and is 5-8 so far in the second half. The Huskies continue regular season play through Aug. 13.
Tyler Davis, Catcher, Humboldt Crabs
Davis has played in 26 games for the Humboldt Crabs this summer collecting 39 hits with 18 going for extra bases with 10 doubles, a triple and seven home runs.
The Fresno native leads the Crabs in at-bats (112), RBI (38), hits (39), doubles (10) and home runs (7).
Taking on the Silicon Valley Sharks on June 29, Davis went 5-for-6 with three singles, a double and a home run, drove in five RBI and scored five runs.
The Crabs are 23-10 on the summer with 13 regular season contests remaining with the regular season wrapping up on Aug. 7 against the Sacramento Yankees.
Tommy Hopfe, Pitcher, Orleans Firebirds
Making his way to the Cape Cod League this summer, Hopfe has made 10 relief appearances for the Firebirds tossing 18.2 innings.
The Bakersfield native is tied for fourth on the team with 19 strikeouts while tying for the team lead with three wins and has posted a 3.38 ERA.
In a 6-4 win at the Bourne Braves on July 8, Hopfe earned a win with two innings of work striking out four. On July 11, Hopfe got to play at Fenway Park collecting a double.
Orleans is 13-18 on the season sitting third in the Cape Cod League East Division. The Firebirds have nine regular season games remaining with the regular season wrapping up on Aug. 2 and the CCL playoffs set to start Aug. 4.
Ben Newton, Infielder, Anchorage Glacier Pilots
Newton has appeared in 28 games for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots this summer hitting .299 with 32 hits, five doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and 10 walks.
The Albany, Calif. native has a pair of four-hit games this summer, most recently going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, an RBI and three runs scored in a 10-8 loss to the Chugiak Chinooks on July 20.
The Glacier Pilots are 24-9 on the season and have seven regular season contests remaining before the Alaska Baseball League playoffs get underway on Aug. 1.
Will Springer, Pitcher, Crystal Lake Cardinals
Springer has made five appearances and one start with the Crystal Lake Cardinals this summer.
In eight innings of work, the Hanford native has only allowed five hits, one earned run while striking out 10.
He notched a win on June 23 over the Addison Braves striking out four in four innings. The Cardinals are 14-10 on the season and close out the regular season on July 27.
Blake Wink, Infielder, Portland Pickles
Wink has played in 13 games for the Pickles with six hits while scoring five runs and driving in four RBI so far this summer.

Carson Revay, Pitcher, Rochester Honkers (Incoming freshman)
Revay, a soon-to-be freshman pitcher from Stockton, has appeared in 11 games in relief for the Rochester Honkers in the Northwest League.
He is 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA on the season tossing 12.2 innings allowing eight hits, two earned runs while striking out 12.
The Honkers went 15-19 in the first half of the season and are 7-4 in the second half with regular season play going through Aug. 13.
Jett Ruby, Infielder, Crystal Lake Cardinals (incoming freshman)
Ruby has played in six games this summer for the Cardinals.
The 2022 Buchanan graduate, who will be a freshman this fall for the Bulldogs, has 10 hits, three doubles one triple, five RBI and nine runs scored.
In a 9-7 win over the Joliet Dirtbags on June 22, Ruby had three hits with a double, RBI and a run scored.
The Cardinals are 14-10 on the season and close out the regular season on July 27.
