FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Athletics announced on Friday the addition of a home football game with Kent State University to complete the Bulldogs' 2023 non-conference schedule.
The teams will play at Valley Children's Stadium on September 23, 2023. The game replaces Fresno State's prior 2023 home game with BYU, which was canceled when BYU announced it would join the Big 12 Conference starting in the 2023-24 athletic season.
In addition to the non-conference matchups with Eastern Washington and Kent State, Fresno State will also host Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico, and UNLV in Mountain West play during the 2023 season.
Kent State competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and recently played in both the 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl and the 2021 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
Fresno State now has its non-conference schedules filled through 2025, with multiple other future games scheduled as well, currently including four home games against Autonomous Five opponents in the next nine seasons.
