Late Galvan goal seals draw in Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. – 53 seconds. With Fresno State trailing and time dwindling down, that's all that remained on the clock when Megan Galvan drew the Bulldogs level at 1-1 on Sunday afternoon at Montana. It was the first goal of the senior's career.
How It Happened
Facing a heavy onslaught of pressure from the Griz throughout the opening half hour, Fresno State held Montana off the scoreboard before gaining a bit of momentum before halftime. Trailing 7-0 in shots, Sheyenne Hodge had the Bulldogs' first chance in the 33rd minute but saw her header drift over the crossbar. Less than two minutes later, Lorena Montanes was taken down on the edge of the 18-yard box. The senior lined up an attempt that forced Griz keeper Camellia Xu to produce a diving stop to her right with the ball headed inside the near post.
Fresno State continued to keep up its pressure in the first 10 minutes out of the break. A pass back to Kaelyn Miller at the top of the box nearly broke the deadlock in the 54th minute but the sophomore's attempt found the crossbar.
Montana had its best chance of the half come in the 72nd minute with Ava Samuelson beating an outstretched Ella Wilson but the attacker's shot clattered off the right post. Five minutes later, the home side earned the breakthrough on a centering ball that Maysa Walters backheeled into the net.
With the game heading toward a second straight loss on the Bulldogs' road trip, Bailee Beach lofted a ball into the box in the final minute. Miller volleyed it toward goal past Xu where Megan Galvan was making a run into the middle of the six-yard box to tap the ball into an empty net.
Scoring Summary
78:39 – UM – Maysa Walters (Kayla Rendon Bushmaker, Ava Samuelson)
89:07 – FS – Megan Galvan (Bailee Beach, Kaelyn Miller)
