Bulldogs add 13 to 2023 roster

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State head softball coach Stacy May-Johnson announced the addition of 13 student-athletes to the Bulldog program. The group of newcomers will join 11 returners to round out the Bulldogs' 2023 roster.
"We are very excited to welcome our incoming class, as this group is both very deep and very talented," May-Johnson said. "It all starts in the circle and we've added pitching and catching that will immediately elevate our program. The class also highlights both power and speed offensively as well as several skilled defenders. The class covers every facet of the game and combined with our returning talent will propel Fresno State back to championship contention."

Kennedy Bunker • C/1B • Simi Valley, Calif. • Westlake HS
- Three-time All-Miramonte League.
- Miramonte League Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman (2019) leading league in RBI with 32.
- VC Star Second Team and Westlake's Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 recording a perfect fielding percentage during senior season with 153 chances and zero passed balls.
- Holds school records for RBI (101) and doubles in three seasons.
- Had a career .990 fielding percentage with 539 chances.
- Led Westlake to two league championships (2019, 2021), its first in program history and 2021 state runner-up.
- Ranked 45th overall and 17th for catchers by Extra Innings.
Shaunessy Cardwell • 3B/SS • San Diego, Calif. • Morse HS
- Nominated for 2022 SoCal all-state team.
- Finished senior season with .526 batting average, .589 on base percentage and 1.118 slugging percentage.
- Had 40 hits, 16 doubles, 9 home runs, 29 RBI, 34 runs.
- Two-time first team all-league selection.
- Four-year varsity player for Morse HS and twice named team captain.
Keira Carrillo • OF • Palmdale, Calif. • Highland HS
- Hit .603 in 2021, 11th-best in California according to Cal-Hi Sports.
- Offensive Player of the Year and Team MVP in 2021.
- Three-year varsity player and two-time team captain.
- Led Highland HS to 2022 Golden League championship.
- Placed third at PGF in 2016 with club team Panthers Gold.
Julia Doan • OF • San Clemente, Calif. • San Juan Hills HS
- Selected to 2022 Division 3 All-CIF Southern Section.
- PGF Futures All-American Watch List.
- Four-year varsity starter and team captain.
Bailey Doherty • P • Creston, Calif. • Atascadero HS/Cal Poly
- Went 2-2 in 2021 in six appearances with a 1.74 ERA and 34 strikeouts during freshman season with Cal Poly.
- Hit .273 with a home run and five RBI in 11 at bats.
- During four-year high school career, batted .403 (108-for-268) with 83 RBI and 16 home runs in 94 appearances.
- In the circle, posted 1.29 ERA, a 51-13 record, 752 strikeouts and threw seven no-hitters and one perfect game in 86 appearances.
- As a junior in 2019, named to Cal-Hi Sports All-State team and All-Central Coast Athletic League team after hitting .390 (32-for-82) with 25 RBI and six homers and compiling a 0.89 ERA with 20-2 record, 276 strikeouts and six no-hitters.
- In 2018, named to MaxPreps.com Sophomore All-America Team and as San Luis Obispo County Player of the Year after hitting .394 (28-for-71) with 27 RBI and posting a 0.75 ERA with 20-2 record and 282 strikeouts.
Jamie Hicks • 1B/3B • San Jose, Calif. • Archbishop Mitty HS
- Helped team to first place in CCS during freshman year.
- Was second team all-league as a freshman.
- Club team placed 13th at PGF.
Emma Martinez • 2B/SS • Yucaipa, Calif. • Yucaipa HS
- Earned all-state third team and All-CIF Southern Section honors in 2022.
- Hit .539 during senior year with 20 RBI, 43 runs and 17 doubles along with 18 stolen bases.
- Three-time all-league selection, twice earning first team.
- All-Citrus Belt League Dream Team during sophomore year.
Serayah Neiss • P • Newberg, Oregon • Newberg HS
- Led Newberg High School to a first-place finish in 2022 and semifinals of state playoffs.
- Had a 0.88 ERA with 357 strikeouts in 168.2 innings.
- Two-time first team all-state selection and three-time all-conference selection (no season in 2020).
- Earned MVP award and was a two-time Pitcher of the Year.
- Club team won Southwestern nationals and placed ninth at USA gold nationals.
Alyssa Ramirez • P/3B • Santa Clarita, Calif. • Saugus HS
- Earned Division I All-CIF First Team and was named 2022 Foothill League MVP after hitting .553 with 22 RBI, 20 runs and broke single-season home run record with 13 while also throwing two no hitters and posting a 1.78 ERA.
- LA Daily News all-area first team.
- Two-time Foothill League First Team.
- 2022 Saugus Female Athlete of the Year and four-year varsity player.
- Ranked No. 56 in 2022 extra elite 100.
- Led Saugus to a 28-2 record in three seasons and two league championships (2019, 2022).
Alyssa Rebolledo • OF • Fontana, Calif. • Ramona HS
- Named First Team All-League four straight years.
- 2022 Athlete of the Year.
- In 79 career games, totaled 116 runs, 119 hits, 97 RBI, 23 doubles, 7 triples and 11 home runs, and hitting .458 during career.
Bella Rocco • 3B • Fontana, Calif. • Jurupa Hills HS/Boise State
- Named Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Year in 2021 and was a All-MW First Team selection in 2021 for Boise State.
- Hit .336 with 4 doubles, 6 home runs with 28 RBI and 16 runs during redshirt freshman season.
- Played in 104 games in three seasons for the Broncos, averaging .289 in 287 at bats and totaling 83 hits, 10 doubles, 11 home runs and 60 RBI.
- San Andres League MVP as a sophomore and junior with Jurupa Hills HS.
- Led Jurupa Hills to three straight league titles.
- Broke school's home run record as a freshman (13).
- Four-year varsity starter at third base and two-time captain, hitting over .580 in all four seasons.
Ava Tingey • OF • Lincoln, Calif. • Lincoln HS
- Held a career batting average of .462.
- Hit .614 as a senior.
- Earned all-league, all-section and league offensive MVP honors.
- Led Lincoln to league title in 2021.
Juliana Wilson • C/1B/OF • Watsonville, Calif. • Watsonville HS/UCF
- Played in 81 games in two seasons at UCF, making 63 starts
- Named to All-AAC Rookie Team in 2021.
- Second on the team in doubles with 15 and third for the Golden Knights in home runs (10), and fourth in both RBI (44) and runs (39) during the 2020-21 seasons.
- held a .293 average, .541 slugging percentage.
- Hit over .600 with at least a 1.000 slugging percentage in three years of varsity softball at Watsonville HS.
- Totaled 23 home runs and 111 RBI.
- Earned All-State honors after her junior year and named All-League for four consecutive seasons.
- Led high school team to 2017 CCS Division I Championship.
