BULLDOG BONES

Fresno State wraps up its three-match homestand on Tuesday hosting San Diego State and travels to UNLV on Thursday.
The Bulldogs are coming off a pair of five-set losses to open Mountain West play last week falling at home to Nevada and San Jose State.
The 'Dogs are 5-5 in MW road openers with wins in 2012 (Boise State), 2015 (Utah State), 2018 (San Diego State), 2019 (San Jose State) and Spring 2021 (San Diego State).
The 'Dogs have won four in a row at home against San Diego State and two straight overall against the Aztecs.
The Bulldogs have dropped six in a row against UNLV and their last three at home with their last win over the Rebels in Fresno coming on Oct. 11, 2018 in four sets.
Fresno State enters the week leading the MW and ranking 47th nationally in assists with 653.

Scouting San Diego State

San Diego State is 3-10 this season with a 1-1 mark in the Mountain West.
The Aztecs opened MW play at home last week falling in four sets to San Jose State before defeating Nevada in four sets.
SDSU also has wins over Army and UC San Diego this season.
The Aztecs are sixth in the MW in attacks per set (32.90) and seventh in assists per set (11.55).
Sophomore Elly Schrader is sixth in the MW in blocks per set (1.05).

Scouting UNLV

UNLV is 10-3 this season with a 1-1 mark in the Mountain West.
The Rebels got MW play started last week on the road falling in straight sets at Colorado State before sweeping Wyoming.
UNLV has recorded five sweeps, four wins in four sets and added one five-set win in their season opener on Aug. 26 over UT-Rio Grande Valley.
The Rebels lead the MW in assists per set (12.83), kills per set (13.65) and are third in hitting percentage (.239).
Senior setter Jhenna Gabriel leads the MW in assists per set (10.48).
Redshirt junior outside hitter Isabel Martin ranks third in the MW in kills (191) and is third in kills per set (3.98).

The Bulldogs are 5-5 in Mountain West road openers.
The 'Dogs have earned wins in 2012 (Boise State), 2015 (Utah State), 2018 (San Diego State), 2019 (San Jose State) and Spring 2021 (San Diego State).
The only other time Fresno State has had its MW road opener at UNLV came in 2014 falling in straight sets.

DOYLE CONTINUES HOT START

Grace Doyle continued her great start to the season last week finishing with 13 kills against Nevada and added 10 more against San Jose State.
She has now reached double figure kills in 13 of 14 matches this season.
Doyle ranks third in the MW and 29th in the country in blocks with 63.
She is also top five in the conference in points (3rd, 220.0), hitting percentage (5th, .345) and blocks per set (5th, 1.07).

GAZZANIGA AMONG MW LEADERS IN DIGS

Libero Sydney Gazzaniga ranks third in the MW in digs with 193 for an average of 3.27 digs per set.
The sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga has led the Bulldogs in digs in eight matches and has reached 10 or more digs in 10 matches.

FIVE SET BATTLES

Nearly half of the Bulldogs matches have gone to five sets this season with six of the 'Dogs 14 matches going the length.
The Bulldogs are 1-5 in such matches with a win over Sacramento State.

POSTSEASON

For the second time since 2011, the Mountain West will host a postseason tournament to determine the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament after Boise State claimed the title in 2021.
The top six teams in the regular season will head to Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo. on Nov. 23-25.
This will be the 12th postseason tournament having also had a MW Tournament from 1999-2007.
