'Dogs head to Cal Fall Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. - Fresno State returner Carolina Piferi and freshman Mariia Vyshkina will head to Berkeley this weekend to participate in the Cal Fall Invitational at the Hellman Tennis Complex and Channing Tennis Courts.Â
Fourteen teams will send players to compete in the annual tournament. Matches will start at 8 a.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Fresno State finished the 2022 spring season ranked No. 65 nationally, which represented the highest ranking of any Mountain West program while winning the 2022 MW regular season championship with a perfect 10-0 conference record.

Dy named 2022 Mountain West Coach of the Year
- Fresno State head coach Denise Dy was named the 2022 Mountain West Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
- Dy is the first Fresno State head coach the win MW Women's Tennis Coach of the Year honors since Ryan Stotland in 2014.
- Dy just finished her second season back home in California leading the Bulldogs' program and has led the 'Dogs to a 35-9 record in her tenure (18-2 in MW play).
'Dogs to play in 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend in January 2023
- The No. 65-ranked Fresno State women's tennis team will compete in the 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend in the Austin Regional.
- No. 4 seed Fresno State will open with the back-to-back defending national champion and No. 1-seeded Texas Longhorns on Jan. 27. No. 2 seed Baylor and No. 3 seed LMU round out the four-team regional, which will take place from Jan. 27-28.
- The winner of the regional will advance to face the Washington Huskies in the ITA National Indoor Championships in Seattle – hosted by the University of Washington.
- This will be Fresno State's first appearance in the nation's top nonconference tournament, which includes a 61-team field, since 2018.
