COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Fresno State women's basketball, Taija Sta. Maria earns her first selection as Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.Â
After a standout performance to open the first week of season play, Sta. Maria has been selected as the Mountain West Freshman of the Week.Â
Sta. Maria put up double-digit points for a combined 37 points in last week's games (12, vs. Fresno Pacific; 25, vs. UC Merced) with an average of 18.5 points per game.Â
With nearly 59 minutes of play, Sta. Maria has recorded six rebounds, six assists and five steals.Â
As the Bulldogs' leading scorer in the last two games, Sta. Maria currently sits one point behind Colorado States' Hofschild (MW Preseason Player of the Year), in the conference's individual highs for points.Â
