FRESNO, Calif.-Â Fresno State women's basketball team has signed two new recruits for the 2024-25 season, Rayna Williams and Danae Powell.
Williams is a Texas native from Legion Preparatory Academy. Williams comes from a strong family of basketball players, her father, Marvin, played at the University of Princeton (1998-92), sister Jade played at Duke University (2017-22) and older brother Tre currently plays at the University Tulane (2022-present). Williams earned First-Team All-District and Academic All-District in high school. Williams chose to attend Fresno State because of the environment. Williams can tell the players and coaches have built a good relationship and that is very important to her.Â
Powell's a Nevada native from Centennial high school, one of the top-ranked women's high school programs in Las Vegas. Powell earned First-Team All-Honors, twice and offensive player of the year. In her spare time Powell enjoys helping special education sports programs at her mothers school. Chose to attend Fresno State because she loved the coaching staff and the team. It (Fresno State) felt very much like home, with family and friends in the area.Â
"Fresno State Athletics - Elevate: Imagine the Possibilities" - The Elevate Campaign provides a visionary roadmap to enhance and construct a series of athletic facilities to help further position Fresno State Athletics for sustained competitive success nationally, while also further serving as a source of pride and economic growth throughout California's Central Valley.
