WACO, Texas - Fresno State junior jumping seat rider Yasmin Roman has been named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Standout Student-Athlete of the Month for her efforts in and out of the arena in November.
Â
Roman, who is actively involved with various on campus activities, earned the honor by the NCEA this month and for the first time in her career. The junior Bulldog is the current vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Fresno State.
Â
In addition to her efforts and collaboration on SAAC, Roman also leads Fresno State's efforts with Team IMPACT. Team IMPACT is an organization dedicated to matching children with chronic illnesses with collegiate sports teams across the country, transforming them into honorary athletes. Through this initiative, these brave kids are offered a chance to experience something far beyond the confines of their usual routines, granting them the opportunity to partake in the excitement of collegiate athletics. Roman is completing a fellowship with the organization.
Â
Roman looks to educate others about the Team IMPACT organization and encourage them to be a part of the overall efforts to help make a difference in these children's lives.
Â
Roman has spearheaded Fresno State's activities around Team IMPACT, including a 5K in Fresno to grow the community and awareness of Team IMPACT. On Nov. 18, Roman and Fresno State Athletics welcomed its three Team IMPACT children to campus to be honored at the football game.

Last month, Roman sat down with GoBulldogs.com to shine light on her Team IMPACT experience. Her Q&A can be found here.
