'Dogs open Triton Invitational with 15-7 win over Aztecs

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Fresno State water polo team opened the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Friday morning with a 15-7 victory over No. 21 San Diego State at Canyonview Aquatic Center.
Led by six goals from Brooke Ochoa, No. 8 Fresno State (3-5) got a pair of goals each from Hailey Andress, Jillian Schultz and Ashley Williams.
Daphne Guevremont, Cynthia Rosa and Elisa Grim each added one goal apiece while Paula Nieto Jasny earned the win in goal, her third of the season.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead over the Aztecs with five early goals from Ochoa adding one from Andress.
SDSU broke up the 'Dogs shutout with its first goal with under a minute to play in the first quarter, but outscored the Aztecs, 4-2 in the second quarter to take a 10-3 lead into halftime.
Three more goals for the Bulldogs, one each from Rosa, Schultz and Grim, extended the 'Dogs lead to 13-5 after three quarters and two more goals from each side in the fourth completed the scoring.
Up next
The 'Dogs return to the pool on Saturday morning taking on No. 5 Hawaii (5-0) at 10:20 a.m to wrap up action in Bracket C before facing an opponent to be determined later in the day.
