'Dogs close Bulldog Classic with strong showing

CLOVIS, Calif. – In a meet that was scheduled just over a week ago due to a cancelled meet, Fresno State turned in a solid weekend that saw eight wins for the 'Dogs at the Bulldog Classic. Six of those came on Saturday as the action took to Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The first of the day came in the women's shot put where the 'Dogs went 1-2-3-4-5. Jordyn Bryant led the group with a toss of 15.05m/49-4.5. The mark moved her to seventh all-time at Fresno State. She was followed by Cierra Jackson, Jocelynn Budwig, Amelia DiPaola and Morgan Johnson.
During the afternoon, Jackson came out on top in the discus with a throw of 55.30m/181-5. Bryant was behind her at 52.71m/172-11, posting her second Top 10 mark in the program's history, coming in at sixth.
Queen Okoh also picked up a win and added a Top 10 mark. The senior registered a mark of 12.46m/40-10.5 to win the triple jump. It put her at seventh on the all-time list.
Following a win in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 54.72, Ceonna Pipion returned later in the day in the 200 and put herself in the Bulldogs' Top 10 in the event. In a photo finish that saw the junior place second by a hundredth of second, Pipion still posted the eighth-fastest time in program history at 24.07.
The junior also teamed with Iyanna Ross, De'ja Hudson and Janae Heffernan to close out the meet with a win in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:49.48.
Outside of the sprints and relays, the Bulldogs added another win on the track in the 800 meters as Ximena Ramos crossed the line with a time of 2:20.76.
