We continue our Alumni Spotlight series with one of Head Coach Jaime White's first players during her tenure at Fresno State, Toni Smith-Hudson (2012-16).
Smith played in 106 games during her Bulldog career, making 57 starts, all coming during her final two seasons in Fresno. During those final two years, she averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Averaging 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds as a senior, Smith earned All-Mountain West Honorable Mention.
Q: What is your current profession, and where do you work?Â
Smith-Hudson: I work for Tesla Motors as a Senior Sales Advisor and Delivery Operations.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your current profession?Â
Smith-Hudson: I enjoy transitioning customers who drive gas cars into electric. I also enjoy educating customers about how cool and modern our electric vehicles are!!
Q: How did your time at Fresno State prepare you for your career and life after college?
Smith-Hudson: Fresno State taught me how to manage my time. I am more punctual due to being a student-athlete. I am also very competitive in my current profession since I work in sales. I always goal myself to be top 5 in the region!
Q: What is your favorite memory as a student-athlete?
Smith-Hudson: My favorite memory would have to be winning home games. But mostly winning at home with the best team I've been apart of. I also can't forget pregame locker craziness with all of us dancing and hyping each other up!!
Q: What do you miss most about your time at Fresno State and being a student-athlete?
Smith-Hudson: If I'm being honest, I miss all the free gear. I miss having my teammates as roommates. I miss going to the volleyball games with the team and being very loud and obnoxious. I also miss free pregame meals especially road game meals. But overall I miss playing and winning!
Q: Looking back at your career, what is one word you'd use to describe it?
Smith-Hudson: Unforgettable!Â
Q: What is the biggest piece of advice you would give to current student-athletes?
Smith-Hudson: Take everything you do serious. Have fun while it last and make the most of it. But take advantage of your academics. Be apart of all the events that college has to offer as much as you can.Â
Q: If you can give a message to the Fresno State family, what would it be?
Smith-Hudson: Thank you. Thank you for your support and the love you've shown to the women's basketball team for all these years and for years to come. We greatly appreciate it! It is not unnoticed.
